This year the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books will be at USC’s main campus. The festival lasts two days April 20th & 21st Sat & Sun. I will be performing Sunday April 21st at 1pm at the “Pop & Hiss Stage”.

Get to know famous authors, see culinary greats create their latest recipes, catch screenings and of course don’t forget about the live music!

On Sat April 20th, the city of Pasadena will put on it’s annual Earth & Arts Festival: Free all-ages event in Old Town Pasadena. Live music from local bands, dancing and an interactive drum circle. Kids and parents get creative with art workshops. Eco-friendly exhibitors will display and sell green products and services. There will also be tasty treats from popular local restaurants and a “Sustainable Beer and Wine Festival”.

I will playing on the “Indoor Stage” inside the Armory for the Arts at 12:30pm. After the show –  I am sure you noticed the ”Sustainable Beer and Wine Festival” bit –  I will be pouring wine on behalf of Everson Royce and partying it up. That’s what you call knocking out two careers at once. Boom! Come down and hangout. Should be a fantastic time all around.

“Last year it was an improvised event, put together with the remnants of the just-cancelled Sunset Junction Street Fair. This year, it’s a well-planned bash, with 65 bands, DJs and performers to appear on 9 stages, including in the Taix parking lot. Local shops, galleries and foods as local businesses will showcase their many talents and treats along Sunset Blvd, Echo Park Avenue, and Glendale Blvd in Echo Park. Finally, look for the Echo Park Rising after parties hosted by Funky Sole, Bootie LA and the Echo Country Outpost.” Sounds like a good time to me y’all! Yours truly is gonna be playing at the Fix Coffee stage at 6PM. There are going to be awesome bands all day long and some great performers at the Fix stage. I am super proud, excited and thankful to be a part of all this and I would love nothing more than to have your company. And I am gonna get SUPER coffeed-up. I’m talking like, “Yo! Can I get ten shots in a cup, fool?” I’m talking hand shaking, lip quivering, left eye twitching, stuttering coffeed-up. Then I’m gonna go on stage and see what happens. All right everybody let me break it down like a JPL rocket scientiest landing a Mars Rover:

So this sweet looking dude with a hat and a couple nice tattoos walks into my place of work (Silverlake Wine) and says he has some special order Bourbon on hold. I find it and bring it out to him. He says, “Do you want some?” “I said is that a trick question? Asking me if I want to drink whisky is like asking me if I want to drink whisky.”

So after a couple glasses we start talking about music and he says that he works at the library (And no, not the Library Bar, the Silverlake Library as in right next door to Silverlake Wine!) and that he wants to create monthly community building events where local musicians perform and local artists display their works in the library!

And I’m just thinking, “Wow this guy had me at ‘Do you want some?’”

“Arn’t people suppose to be quiet in a Library?” I asked.
“No. I like noise. Let’s make noise” He says. I am really liking this guy by this point.

So cut to the present and we are proud to present to you the first ever “Silverlake Nights”. With local artists and live music from yours truly and another great band, The Middle Initials. I am super excited about the chance to tear up the local library with my tunes (We are going to be performing in the main room of the library by all the windows – with those high ceilings it is going to be like singing in a church – I’m going gospel on y’all’s asses.)

This is going to be a great event for the community and hopefully also help to raise awareness of how awesome the Silverlake Library really is! I know a lot of you have not yet checked it out and this is the perfect opportunity to experience this beautiful and resourceful place.

Then we can ALL after party at Silverlake Wine, because the wonderful Thursday tasting will be going on! (Yes I will be working after the show.) How can you beat it?
